Bloggers Shut Down in Egypt

Blogger's getting arrested for their articles? Not cool, I think we were hoping for more from the new regime in Egypt. This is incredibly disappointing, Does Egypt still have a chance to create a real democracy for themselves?

  1. It is definitely upsetting and disappointing. This revolution started through facebook and twitter, and it seemed as though the people and the rebels were embracing new technology. Now it seems as though they are only allowing it when it comes to its pros-that is-what they deem as positives. By limiting free speech, the army is downplaying the importance and the revolution that took place. We had so much hope for Egypt, but we have to remember that it's still not a democracy. Maybe this revolution was a step in that direction, but it's not there yet.

  2. One of the reasons he was arrested was because he could potentially start up a lot of unnecessary riots, not that it justifies him being punished for simply expressing his thoughts. Since it is just the beginning Egypt i have hope that as time goes on they will be able to come closer to becoming a democratic country.
